You can download the shapes here. To put one together for your little one, you need:
- Plain t-shirt {we found ours at Target}
- Scraps or 3 fat eighths/quarters {I used leftovers from the Birthday Banner and one fat quarter}
- Scraps/small piece chinille or minky for frosting {we used brown for a chocolate cupcake}
- Heat N Bond Lite
- Water soluable or tear away stabilizer {optional}
- Matching thread for each applique
If desired {we didn't} attach another stabilizer to the inside front of the t-shirt; make sure to check the directions of both stabilizers, if both can be used with the iron, great, if not, iron your shapes on to the t-shirt first! We ironed all the shapes in place before stitching, so that none of the appliques has stitching underneath.
Stitch around each applique with coordinating thread. We used a small satin stitch on the crown, number, and cupcake bottom, and a medium on the chenille cupcake frosting. Optional: use Heat N Bond Ultra and don't stitch around the appliques.
We've got a few more birthday projects to go, the count down to the big day is fast approaching!
Note: This pattern is for personal use only, not for resale or commercial use.
Looks cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun party theme you have. The shirt turned out great. I am having a great time planning for my sons first birthday which is in a few weeks. I have lots of "projects" that i'm putting together and love the things you have made for Silas' party. Thanks for sharing
