Have a Hoot Pattern {Giveaway}

Happy Monday everyone!  I cannot believe the weekend is over so quickly!  So, let's start this week off with a giveaway!  My blogging friend Jenelle, whom I met during Embroidery 101, has opened a pattern shop {find it here: Crafsty & Meylah}.  Her first offering, this adorable owl embroidery pdf pattern:

I've been meaning to make some new pillow covers for my house, so this one is on the list now {I'm thinking Vintage Modern for Norah's room!}.

Not only is the owl an adorable, original design, the pattern is very clearly written with plenty of diagrams.

Jenelle also includes directions for making the embroidered owl into pillow cover, which is a great way to incorporate some quilting with embroidery, without having to make an entire quilt.

Now for the fun part, would you like to win a copy of this adorable pdf pattern?  Perfect, because we're giving one away.  Just leave a comment letting us know your favorite embroidery stitch, or why you'd like to learn to embroider, if you haven't started yet.  Entries are open through Sunday, September 2nd, and then we'll draw a winner.  Please make sure that your e-mail address is in your profile or that you add it to your comment, so we can send you the pattern if you win!

Happy Stitching!

Hook 'n Needle Creations :: Emma Clutch

I was just checking the shop e-mail and I found this amazing photo.  Hafza of Hook 'n Needle Creations made this beautiful version of the Emma clutch, and I had to share!  I love how she's rounded the flap corners and used charm square pieces for the handle too!  It's just adorable! You can see more photos here.  And, you really must look around her blog too, she's got some super cute stuff!

Hope you're having a happy weekend!

Finish-A-Long {Quarter 2}

2012 Finish-A-Long

Do you have an ever-growing pile of UFOs {Un-Finished Objects} lurking around your sewing room?  Would you like to get some of those completed...and potentially win some great prizes too?  Well, then, I invite you to join Rhonda's Finish-A-Long!

I am linking up this quarter with my unfinished Anna Maria Horner Innocent Crush bag, you can see it here:

I actually do not have a serious problem with UFOs because I don't even get around to starting most of the projects I dream up...not sure that's really a better situation to be in.  So, I am also going to commit to making Silas's twin quilt.

Now, I realize this doesn't count as a UFO for the purposes of the Finish-A-Long, but, I thought if I keep it together with this post, maybe it will help me.  I hope to post progress photos of either/both once a month...

Do you have lurking UFOs?  How do you stick to getting them finished?

Flutter from.Kat {a giveaway}

Scrappy Quilted Pouch Pattern

Blogging is really an amazing thing, I never imagined I'd have blogging friends all over the place.  Remember my friend Kat?  She shared her cute Onesie Tutu Tutorial back in November to celebrate baby Norah's arrival.  Well, this year she's taken a little bit of a turn with her online shop, and she'll now be selling some of her patterns.  And, because she's so generous, she's offered to give away one of each of her new patterns to a lucky Clover & Violet reader.

Zipper Pouch Pattern

I think these are such cute little patterns, and I've had the chance to look at them too, and they're easy to follow and very well done.  Not to mention, these little, quilty pouches would work great as a companion to any of our bags **wink**!  So, head over to her blog or shop, and learn one thing new about Kat {and follow along if you'd like}, then come back here, leave a comment and you'll be entered into this great little giveaway.  This giveaway will be open until February 3rd at midnight, then the winner will be drawn at random and announced on Monday, February 6th.

P.S. This giveaway is sponsored by Kat!

A Custom Brooklyn

This is our latest creation, a custom Brooklyn bag for an old friend.  The fabric is Botany by Lauren & Jessi Jung for Moda.  Even though our friend doesn't sew {yet}, she picked out the fabric and arranged the tiles, so hopefully it looks like she'd pictured.

back

I were going to wait to put the pictures on the blog until she received it, but since I keep forgetting to send it, I thought this might be motivation to get it out in the mail this afternoon.

side

Good thing my mom helped me get it done because otherwise the fabric would still be sitting in a neat little pile in my sewing room.  I have to say, it's always fun to see the bags made out of a variety of fabrics!  I'm pretty pleased with how this looks!

P.S. I'm linking to Fabric Tuesday at Quiltstory!

Blog Love :: Craft Buds

Allow me to introduce you to one of my new favorite handmade spots on the web: Craft Buds.  Started by Lindsay of Lindsay Sews and Mary of Bugglebee.  Although the site has just launched a few weeks ago, it looks like it will be a great resource for handmade businesses with a quilting and sewing focus.  But more than just business topics, you'll find linkys of the latest quilting and fabric giveaways, fun tutorials {I think I must try this upcycled sweater from a hoddie!}, and more.  So, hop on over, look around, and say hello {feel free to let the girls know we sent you!}.  Enjoy!
