What on Earth?

This morning when I got up {after a nearly sleepless night because poor Norah has a diaper rash...} I sat down to play with Norah, drink my coffee {is it okay to brag that my darling husband makes coffee every morning before I get out of bed?}, and check my e-mail.  Shockingly, there were lots of pattern sales receipts!  At first I thought maybe something had malfunctioned...but no, we really just sold a bunch of patterns, this morning!  What?

Interestingly, these patterns were sold on Craftsy...so I hopped over to see if I could find out what happened, but no luck.  However, as the morning continued, our Sophie beach bag climbed to the #1 trending quilting pattern!  What?

So, like any excited school girl pattern designer, I took a screen shot.  And there you have it:

This is super exciting!  My mom and I work really hard to design new, pretty, and purposeful bag patterns, and it's so exciting to see one of our patterns sell really well {at least for the day, but hopefully it will be a new trend!}.  Oh, and if you happen to know how our pattern got such sudden attention...do let me know!

Catching Up!

I've got a few random things to blog about, so I'm jumping in on a Saturday to get myself {and you all!} caught up.  First, don't you just love that mini quilt?  I do, and it's mine.  I received it in the Doll Quilt Swap 11 from Katy {Lethargic Lass} from Ottawa, CA {I've actually been there!}. There were tons of lovely quilts this round {as always}, but this one especially caught my eye...so I was beyond thrilled to receive it!

Next, congratulations to Jenny of Cut.Iron.Sew.Repeat.  Her Recovery Quilt was selected by the RNG as the winner of the July {yikes, I am so behind!} Stash Project!

Fall Splendor

 
Reading everyone's comments on their most memorable fall leaves has me longing for fall colors!  Because we're more southern this year than we've been in a long time, the peak is not here yet.  Instead I've been browsing through some of my old photos.  The one at the top of this page is one of my all-time favorites.  Josiah took this shot himself, while we were walking through the park on his R&R from Afghanistan in 2006.  A few days earlier we had closed on our very first house, our dream cottage, and just being together after eight months apart was bliss.

This photo is from two years ago, and probably the best color we ever saw in the northeast {so far, that is}.  I don't even remember the location it was taken because it was just some little turnoff on a side road that we happened to stop at {our weekends were spent driving in the Adirondacks and taking all the back roads we could, in search of radiant colors}.  It was taken with my little point and shoot camera, and I think it is one of the images I'm most proud of {and it may look familiar to you because I just realized I posted a cropped version of it a few weeks ago!}.

Shopaholic: Barn Star Candle Co.

I really love candles, but I've noticed it is difficult to find blue candles to match my living room decor with scents I like {I'm just not really a fan of linen or floral scents, personally}.  So, imagine my surprise to find a Blueberry Muffin scented soy candle that is hand poured in Maine!  It is everything I was hoping for in a candle, since soy wax burns cleaner {our landlords request that we burn soy candles!}.  The jar even has a pretty daisy cut into the lid.  It makes a cute decoration as well as a purposeful candle, now I just have to decide when I'm going to start burning it.

It's a good thing there are at least six Target stores near my house...otherwise I think the people who work there would start recognizing me.  We lived in our last house for almost four years, which may not be long for some, but for a military family it is.  I had slowly found the perfect little accents for each nook, and was very pleased with how my house had turned out.  Then, we moved to a much different {and more spacious} place.  Some things I'm excited to upgrade from our previous home, others needed to be replaced {I had to leave all my curtains behind as part of the sale}, and some things I had been waiting to buy until we moved.   Now that we've moved I've done more shopping in the past month than I have ever before {er..ever in one month that is!}.  Curtains and rods, shower curtains, rugs, soap pumps, sheets, baskets, lamps, and who knows what else, have been flying off the store shelves and into my house.  It's a good thing Silas loves to ride in the shopping cart, it's like a baby roller coaster ride {at least the way mama pushes it}.  Slowly but surely, this place is starting to feel like home.
