Be Flexible

As if I didn't have enough going on, I signed up for the next round of the Scrappy Mug Rug Swap.  After lots of thought and a couple false starts, I've put together these rainbow squares.  I am going to hand quilt it, maybe with a rainbow or something.  I originally had a different mug rug in mind, but when I found out who my partner was, it just didn't fit, so hopefully this will be better.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, our move is temporarily on hold, sort of.  We're still moving, and to the same destination, and we still need to arrive at the same time...but we don't know when we'll actually get the orders to move

I guess I'll let you in on a little secret that you may have figured out already...I don't like change, and I don't take it too well when my plans are interrupted {whether it's the little things, like designing a different mug rug, or the big...}, and I am certainly not happy when I cannot make plans at all.  But, I guess I need to learn a little more patience and flexibility...and in the meantime, I think I'll sew as much as I can before I have to pack up my stuff.

What do you do when things aren't going the way you thought they'd work out?

  1. I wish I could say I handle it with grace but the truth is sometimes I fall apart. Crazy because life IS ALL ABOUT CHANGE. You would think I would be used to it by now:)

  2. I hate change too. Change stinks, and I don't care what anyone tells me to the contrary. Even when I was a small child, my mom would have to start telling me about changes to our plans weeks in advance, just so I wouldn't have a meltdown. I no longer have toddler-style meltdowns, but I do cry sometimes when things get too messed up or are off course for too long. I just can't deal. So don't feel bad. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

  3. I am completely inflexible so I totally understand. your mug rug is going to be awesome! if your partner doesn't like it--I do!

  4. I meant to comment on this sweet project when I first saw it (but i probably ran in to computer problems!) This mug rug is wonderful and I'm sure your partner will love it!

And as for flexability... my girls are young teens so without being a little flexible, I'm sure I'd snap on a daily basis!
