Embroidery 101: Block Three

Here's the third block in our Stitch & Quilt Along! Download the PDF pattern here or the jpg image here.

In addition to a Back Stitch outline, the block also uses the Lazy Daisy and Stem Stitch from last week's tutorials.  I've also included a stitching guide photo at the bottom of this post, to clarify what stitches we'll be using for the block.  I hope this makes everything a little easier.

Oh, and I got a new iron, so no wrinkly photos this week!  Yay!

Embroidery 101: Block Three

It turned out a little brighter than I had imagined, but I still like it. If you want to tone it down a bit, use the same color for the cluster of flowers in the lower left corner.

I only stem stitched the center line of the leaf, but for a more pronounced leaf {or if you're more proficient at stem stitch than I am} you could stitch the entire outline in the stem stitch.  Here are the stitching details:
