This is Me
In keeping with my efforts to be more real, here's a peek at my cutting table from this weekend. It appears it is necessary to pile jelly roll strips everywhere if you're going to cut little pieces off of them...and obviously, stacking the ruler on top of the pile makes the most sense!
And, my blogging friends are doing their best to get me to share some more too, as I've been tagged by Danny {Mommy for Reals} and Sunni {Love Affair with my Brother} to participate in a get to know you sort of questionnaire.
Now, there was a day I'd have passed this up...but, that day isn't today {but may be again in the future}, so, here it goes:
RULES:
-You must post the rules.
-Answer the 11 questions that the tagger posted for you and then create 11 questions to ask the people you've tagged.
-Tag 11 people and link them in your post {Rule change by me: If you want to answer my questions at the bottom, please do so and add your blog post to the linky!}.
-Let them know you have tagged them {Okay everyone...you're tagged...if you want!}
Questions from Danny:
1. What is your favorite Tom Hanks movie? Toy Story 2 {Need I say more?}
2. What is your favorite lunch spot and what do you order there? Panera, even though we don't have one here {what kind of place is this?!}. I usually ordered the Tomato & Mozzarella Panini and Creamy Tomato Soup. Yum. I think I need to find a Panera now...
3. What is your most embarrassing moment? Nothing comes to mind, probably because I am a boring, quiet kind of person...
4. What would you do with the money if you won the lottery? Save for retirement and give the rest away...
5. Which fabric store has the best fat quarter bundles and which one is your favorite bundle? Hmm...lately I've been ordering my fabric in larger quantities than fat quarters {though I do have bundles from a couple collections on their way...more on that later}.
6. I'm coming over for breakfast and bringing the juice. Which kind should I pick up? Probably Orange, I think. But I'll have lots of strong coffee already brewed!
7. Who is your favorite artist? The Metropolitan Museum of Art...can't say I have a favorite artist, but the Met is my favorite spot in New York!
8. Which song reminds you of your high school years? I don't know. I listened to Christian music almost exclusively in high school...so I suppose whenever I hear late-90s/early-2000s Christian music on the radio, it makes me think of high school.
9. What is your favorite item to make? Bags...or other cute, little things, and, of course, stuff for my kids!
10. Which is your favorite flower? Pansies, violets, violas, etc...
11. Which sewing machine do you use? Does it have a name? Tell me about it. I have a Viking Sapphire. It is unnamed and referred to as my "sewing machine". We're usually good friends, but occasionally she gets temperamental {apparently, though nameless...my machine has a gender?}. I kind of want to try a Janome, and a Bernina, and an Elna, and a Baby Lock...too....
Questions from Sunni:
1.) What is your adult beverage of choice and how often do you indulge? Does coffee count?
2.) Do your socks match? Socks? I live in California. I am enjoying wearing flip-flops and sandals year round. But, if I am forced to wear regular shoes, then, yes, they match.
3.) If you were forced to give up 1 aspect of quilting, what would it be? Binding. Oddly, almost everything I make has a binding on it...but it is my least favorite. Probably because by the time I get to it I am anxious to move on.
4.) Admit it. You love TV. How many hours do you have it on in the background a day? Actually, one of the big changes we made when moving was not to get tv {we have a tv, but only use it to watch movies, etc}. So I always have music on instead.
5.) Favorite genre of music? I'm not sure how to classify it, but think Snow Patrol, William Fitzsimmons, Imogen Heap, etc.
6.) What blogger do you look to for inspiration? I am terrible at this....well, I love to read blogs, and I love to drool over people's beautiful work, but when it comes to inspiration...I usually get it either from fabric {quilts} or from starring at other people's handbags...and, as strange as this may sound...I often dream of quilty things, so I'm sure that inspiration is coming from somewhere, but I cannot pinpoint it...
7.) Social Media? Love it or hate it? In between...I like it when it is used effectively, but often feel that there are too many options...so I just stick to blogging.
8.) Would you enter your living room in a design competition? No. While my furniture generally has a style, trying to hang things on random walls, etc., is difficult. Thank you army...
9.) Besides a quilting or sewing blog, name another blog you love. The Mommyhood Memos {because I'm a mommy too!}
10.) Make-up you can't live without. I live without makeup most of the time. But when I actually wear it I go for mascara and my favorite eye shadow.
11.) Write and answer the first question that you thought of when you decided to play along. My Question: When you look at your stash, is there one color that dominates it? Yep, aqua blue, followed closely by pink...
Now, for my questions, should you choose to play along:
1. When you look at your stash, is there one color that dominates it?
2. If you didn't quilt, what other artsy/crafty pursuit would you follow?
3. If you could hire a maid to clean only one part of your house, what would it be?
4. If you do/did work a 9-5 job, what is it/would it be?
5. What is the oldest item of clothing that you continue to wear?
6. What is your dream vacation spot?
7. What does your sewing space look like right now {optional: post a picture!}?
8. If you could change your first name, what would you choose?
9. If I visited your hometown, where would you take me?
10. How did you get started quilting?
11. What is your go-to dinner {share the recipe if so inclined!}?
Now it's your turn, answer my 11 questions in a blog post and link back here sometime this week! Can't wait to read your answers!

Great idea to have it as a link party, Jennie! I like your answers and yes, coffee counts. I NEED coffee everyday!
ReplyDeleteHi, love your answers/ideas. Good job! Hugs Loretta
ReplyDeleteoohhh I like this. I might just have to make time later. :)
ReplyDeleteLink party! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteSo, you liked The Newsboys? And DC Talk? And WOW CDs? You know what I'm talking about. Been there.
I never wear makeup and it's so nice to see someone else admit that they don't wear much! You are a natural beauty so it would be a shame to cover it all up.
