I'm barely squeezing my quilt in to the Blogger's Quilt Festival ahead of the deadline {which is today!}. Although I love quilting, I find that I don't actually make many quilts; instead most of my quilting ends up as other things {like bags, for example}. So, when I saw the Blogger's Quilt Festival coming up, I thought I'd make a quilt especially for showcasing. But, like many good intentions, I wasn't able to get it finished in time {it is amazing how much time a nine-month-old demands!}. Therefore, I took some new photos of a favorite quilt, and without further ado, here is Silas' baby quilt to go in his room:
I love little quilts because they don't require much fabric, the back doesn't have to be pieced, and they travel easily. The fabric is Flights of Fancy by Paula Prass for Michael Miller. I chose it because the colors were bright and not too babyish and the prints were big and bold. {Now, I didn't make this quilt alone, my mom did about half of the work. It was a team effort like most of our projects!}
Because of the size of the prints, we thought fewer bigger pieces would make a great quilt; so we sketched up this simple design. The whole thing is then quilted with a small meander. I could not be happier with how it turned out.
Make sure you stop by and check out {at least some of} the rest of the lovely quilts in the festival at Amy's blog. And thanks Amy for hosting this fun event!
That is really pretty!
