Fit for a Prince

To go along with our Castle Peeps theme, Clara designed this adorable Birthday Shirt for Silas to wear on his Birthday and at his little party.

You can download the shapes here.  To put one together for your little one, you need:
  • Plain t-shirt {we found ours at Target}
  • Scraps or 3 fat eighths/quarters {I used leftovers from the Birthday Banner and one fat quarter}
  • Scraps/small piece chinille or minky for frosting {we used brown for a chocolate cupcake}
  • Heat N Bond Lite
  • Water soluable or tear away stabilizer {optional}
  • Matching thread for each applique
First, as for the Birthday Banner, trace the shapes onto the paper side of the Heat N Bond Lite, then iron them onto the wrong side of each appropriate fabric.  Then cut out the shapes and position them in place.

If desired {we didn't} attach another stabilizer to the inside front of the t-shirt; make sure to check the directions of both stabilizers, if both can be used with the iron, great, if not, iron your shapes on to the t-shirt firstWe ironed all the shapes in place before stitching, so that none of the appliques has stitching underneath.

Stitch around each applique with coordinating thread.  We used a small satin stitch on the crown, number, and cupcake bottom, and a medium on the chenille cupcake frosting.  Optional: use Heat N Bond Ultra and don't stitch around the appliques.

We've got a few more birthday projects to go, the count down to the big day is fast approaching!

Note:  This pattern is for personal use only, not for resale or commercial use.

  1. What a fun party theme you have. The shirt turned out great. I am having a great time planning for my sons first birthday which is in a few weeks. I have lots of "projects" that i'm putting together and love the things you have made for Silas' party. Thanks for sharing
