Embroidery 101 (A New Series)

I'm so happy to hear you are all enthusiastic to learn or improve your embroidery skills!  Although I'm still gearing up for the big move, I am thinking/planning to bring a little bag of embroidery things with me for resting in the evenings.  We'll see if I actually have the time or energy to accomplish it.  Now for my questions, are you interested in doing a little embroidery-a-long block of the month type project {I was thinking a crib/mini sized quilt}?  Or would you rather just some tutorials on different embroidery techniques?  To make it easier, I've created a poll, please take a second to vote {and I'd love it if you leave a comment too!}:

Edit:  I was thinking either flowers, little dresses, or maybe even quilt blocks for the BOM.  It will depend which I can draw most of {that look cute too}.  If you have any opinions, feel free to let me know.

I've left it open for just over a week, then I'll be back with a supply list! Happy stitching!

  2. Do you have anything in mind for your block of the month? I would love to see some pictures! Either way, I will most likely be following along. I'm pretty sure this idea came at the perfect time for me!

  3. I think this is a great idea!! I agree with Tiffany, I'd like to see what you have in mind for the theme. Can't wait to see what you decide.

  4. I just can't take on another BOM type thing right now but I would looooove some tutorials. Including good sources for floss/perle cotton (what's the difference? hey look at that - a tutorial subject!)

  5. The block of the month sounds wonderful. Plus I have great motivation when I know at the end I will have all I need to make a quilt. That is a great idea:0

  6. Dresses sounds super cute! And really girly... You may have to follow it with something very adorably boyish as a BOM after that.. there really isn't enough boyish out there.

  7. I am all about this! Also pearl cotton is a lower sheen (much nicer in my opinion) option to plain old DMC floss. DMC makes the pearl cotton as well it's just a little trickier to find. I go to my local needlework store when I need to stock up. It's best to see the colors in person, they are heavenly! It's all I use for my Etsy shop headbands and anything else I make. Regular floss always makes me think of grade school friendship bracelets:) Sorry, I can get a little ridiculously opinionated when it comes to thread!
