Embroidery 101: Block Five

Questions? Missed a post? Find the index here.

Did I say block four was my favorite? I meant to say block five. Since buntings are everywhere these days, I thought it might be cute if our quilt had one.  I've written "happy" in mine {and on the pattern}, however, you're more than welcome to change it to anything you want {love, family, fun, fresh...were all contenders!}.  You could even put a short name in, if you'd like.  Or put a couple different stitches in each one to look like varied fabrics.  It's up to you, but I thought it would be a great way to personalize your block.

Download the PDF pattern here or the JPG image here.  {I think I have worked out all the kinks with pattern downloading, but if not, please let me know!}

This new block uses the Chain Stitch and Fly Stitch from last week's tutorials, as well as the Lazy Daisy, Double Cross Stitch, Back Stitch, and French Knot.

As an option, you could also customize the flowers in the corner to suit your fabrics, if you are feeling very adventurous!

Once this block is finished, you'll be past the half-way point!  I hope you enjoy stitching it as much as I did.

  5. Wow Jennie! That block is amazingly cute! I so need to learn embroidery, my hand stitching is rather scary, but I may just try again just to make that block! Thanks so much for sharing!
