Garden Steps :: Block Four

Questions? Missed a post? Find the index here.

Finally, block four is done! I know that we're now a week behind too...I will be updating the schedule, but I do plan to get back on track too, it just may take a couple blocks, we'll see!

Something you may not know about me is that I love dragonflies.  I have really as long as I can remember, going back to being a child and seeing the real things outside while playing.  As I grew up, they were still something I love {I have a surprising amount of dragonfly paraphernalia...}.  You probably also know that I love purple {obvious? probably!}, so, when I saw Good Fortune, it was like Kate Spain had designed fabric with me in mind...

So, of course, the quilt needed a dragonfly too.  Download the pattern here. {Note, I've had people tell me they're having trouble with downloads...this doesn't seem to be an issue for everyone, but if you have a problem, just send an e-mail and I'll e-mail you the pattern!}.

While the pattern looks simple, do not underestimate {like I did} the amount of time the satin stitching will take...  I also used split stitch around the wings and back stitch for the veins.  I may go back and add a few little dragonflies too...

Enjoy!

Don't forget to show and tell in our Flickr Group! Did you blog about the quilt along, your fabric selection, or threads? Share your post here {please link to a specific post or Flickr photo}:

  1. OH, this is so pretty, and I like the addition of the dragonfly. Oh, when I still lived in Oregon, we had dragonflies in the most beautiful shade of blue. You would have loved them :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :) :) :)

  2. So I've decided: Since I don't have the time to participate in this bee, you should send me your finished quilt as a gift. :)

  5. Oh, no! I just finished up the flower and the dragonfly, but the linky part is closed! I must get better at doing these on time. Looking forward to the next one.
