Did I say I'd be back Tuesday? Well, I clearly meant Thursday, I just didn't realize it at the time. A few posts ago I mentioned showing everyone how I made my little hexagons, so here you have it:
First I cut two templates. The first just out of regular printer paper the size I want my finished hexagons, the second out of template plastic about 1/4" larger than the first. I then cut all my hexagons the size of the plastic template.
Spray the right side of the fabric with Best Press.
Turn it over and place the paper piece centered on the wrong side.
Folding the fabric edges in toward the paper template, ironing as you go.
When you've ironed around the whole hexagon the starch should be completely dry.
Then, just remove the paper and you're done! Enjoy all your little hexes and breathe a sigh of relief that you didn't have to do any basting, starch painting, or measurement guessing.
Not sure what to do with all those cute little hexes you made? Well, I sew some of them to little projects for decoration, like this:
It is actually a reusable coffee sleeve, for all those lattes I drink {and you know I drink lots of lattes}. I didn't have a paper cup on hand, so I just put it on a tumbler for display purposes {though, it could be used to help keep everyone's glasses straight too...}. I thought it turned out cute for such a simple project.
Now for the giveaway...I'm going to make a lucky winner her own custom coffee sleeve complete with hand embroidered name and whatever in my scrap stash comes closest to her favorite fabrics. Oh yeah, and a $5 Starbucks card to try out her new sleeve with! To enter just leave a comment with some favorite fabrics and/or colors, and of course, what kind of drink you'd order. Here's mine:
Favorite fabrics include Simple Abundance, Whimsy, and, of course, Wonderland by Momo {and I just saw a glimpse of Central Park by Kate Spain...eek...}! My current favorite drink is a Vanilla Cappuccino.
If you want to follow this blog you can have a second entry, but you must leave a second comment as well, if you want to be counted twice. You have until next Thursday {10/28} at Midnight EDT to enter. {Please note: you must leave your e-mail in your comment to win if it is not linked to your blogger profile.}
This blog is not affiliated with Starbucks in any way...I just really love their coffee, lattes, etc.! See FAQ for more info on giveaways.
