Making Progress

I know I'm a little late in the game, but I really love swapping!  I think one of the best things about it is creating things for someone when they have no idea you are.  In fact, it's almost like a repeat of Christmas, except with perfect strangers.  But, those strangers are people who may end up being great friends, because you have shared interests {the swap hosts - mama's - as they're called - carefully match each pair of swappers, so you really do have similarities}.  Above is the embroidery I'm working on for my mug rug, it will say "...you know you haven't had enough coffee until you can thread a sewing machine while it's running" {a quote by Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon}.

And here are my monotone potholders.  I think the browns are turning out pretty cute.  I haven't decided how to finish them, and am debating an applique on the other side.  Since I have a couple of weeks before they need to be mailed, I have time to think of it.  I'm still brainstorming ideas for the Doll Quilt Swap...

  1. Love swaps too!!! And monotone brings up such a dull mental image...and those potholders are anything but dull. Lovely!!!

  2. I just joined my first swap this month - I am loving making the swap item and think I might get hooked on the whole swap thing. I love the potholders you're making. Browns are actually one of my favorites I love how rich the dark the color looks especially next to some lighter browns or whites and Pinwheels are one of my favorite.
