Stash Project: Organization!

Stash!

Here is a photo of my fabric stash in its early days {sorry for the small size, I've also upgraded my camera since then!}. This was way back at our home in New York, when I first set up my sewing room.  A lot has changed since then.  Initially I had just acquired more fabric, but this move I decided to make some big changes.  I had seen those mini fabric bolts here and here. { I also did a little web search, and this is one of the earliest blog posts I found about them: here.}  So, I decided to join the fun and try them out, the result looks something like this:

That's all I'm going to show for now though, because there is a special post planned to show my entire new sewing area {and I'm not quite done anyway}.  But, the Stash Project of the Month post wouldn't be complete without an opportunity to link up and win a surprise yard of fabric {I'll do my best to make it suit the winner!} and the Lizzy bag sewing pattern.  Since I'm bending the rules for myself this month, I'll do the same for you.  You can either link up a blog post about something you made from your stash, or you can blog about your stash organization and link that up!  Can't wait to see what you've been working on.

When linking up, please make sure to follow our few simple rules, and visit some of the other great stash projects too! The giveaway will close when the linky closes, on August 8th {since I'm late in posting this, I'm giving you a few extra days to enter!}.

  1. Beautiful! Thanks for the posts on how to store fabric this way. Someday when I have a larger craft area, and areas of storage above small hands... this would be perfect!

  2. How fun that you're reorganizing your stash! I've wanted to try those mini bolts, but since I've only cleared enough books off to give myself one fabric shelf, I think I can fit more stacking them vertically. Maybe someday! :)

  4. That looks great! I like that they are easier to see and more of the fabric is showing rather than being stacked up.

  5. Brilliant! I have been NEEDING some system that would let me see more of my stash in an organized way and I never thought of bolts! Thank you so much for sharing this!

  6. Wow Jennie, Thanks for sharing such a great idea. I definitely will be trying this out. I love how colorful it is. Mine are just in plastic clear totes right now and I completely lose track of what I have. Can't wait to see pics of your sewing room!

  8. Since my stash is behind the sofa, and piled on my floor, this is an inspiration to get it together so I can make some fun projects.
